Business reporter thanks Lubbock community in final column of 2024

Hello A-J readers!

Well, this is it, the final Around the Hub column of 2024. Together, we’ve seen the rise of new businesses (more than 120) and the fall of longtime favorites (more than 40). We’ve reported on a ransomware attack at two hospitals, the opening of the electric market and where people can find the best ice cream in Lubbock.

With all of that said and done, there were more than 300 business-related articles this year. And none of it would have been possible without the incredible people who helped tell those stories. I would love to thank everyone who sent news tips, sat down for interviews and sent encouragement to us at the A-J.

This year, like every year, this column thrived because of you.

In the new year, we will see some major developments. Leprino Foods’ cheese factory should finally begin operations, and three renovation projects will finish later in 2025. As of December, we already know of more than 20 new restaurants and businesses coming to the Hub City.

Through the next several weeks, you will see articles analyzing and reviewing what happened in 2024. I encourage you to read all of them, because you might be surprised at what you learn. Also, make sure to read the upcoming 2025 predictions the A-J team is working on so you are prepared for what the new year will bring.

From the heart of our team, thank you for reading and supporting the A-J. See you in 2025.
