Business tidbits: Corona Furniture coming to Yakima

A locally owned furniture store with locations in Sunnyside and Pasco will soon open a third location in downtown Yakima.

Corona Furniture and More, opened 10 years ago in downtown Sunnyside by Jose Luis Morales, will move into the former H&H Furniture location at 213 W. Yakima Ave. The name has been added to the “showtime” movie theater-style marquis sign in downtown Yakima.

The store, with current locations at 601 E. Edison Ave. in Sunnyside and 202 N. 10th Ave. in Pasco, offers bedroom, dining room, living room and other home furnishings.

H&H Furniture was owned by the Petersen family since 1969 and had been in its Yakima Avenue location since the 1970s before closing in 2023. The downtown store had two 18,000-square-foot retail sites, each with two stories and a basement, former owner Mark Petersen said.

Details about the Corona Furniture and More Yakima location will be addressed in a future Current column. For more information, visit the store’s Facebook page or call 509-836-0003.
