SHREVEPORT/BOSSIER, La. (KSLA) – LaDOTD announced beginning Wednesday, May 29, the I-20 on and off-ramps at LA 72 (Old Minden Road) will be closed until mid-August.

KSLA News 12 spoke with businesses in the area to see how this closure could impact their business for the next three months.

“I’m really concerned about that [as] a hairstylist because I don’t want it to affect my business. That’s how I make my money, you know. And then now I’m going to have to be a little flexible,” owner of Fairy Magic Tekara Davis said.

The next phase of the I-20 rehabilitation project includes closures of ramps beginning with Old Minden Road.

An area official says it’s a very busy corridor.

“It is a busy exit. We’ve got restaurants there. We’ve got financial institutions. We also have, you know, schools not completely out yet.”

LaDOTD has deemed Airline Drive and Benton Road as the alternate route if you must travel in that area.

Ahead of the closures, Bossier Chamber of Commerce contacted businesses in the area about the closures.

“They weren’t necessarily mad, but they are concerned because they have to really pay attention now to their books, you know, their finances because they know that with this ramp being closed, that it is going to cause a decrease in business,” Bossier Chamber of Commerce President Lisa Johnson said.

Johnson says the Old Minden Road corridor will still be open for business. Residents and visitors can help these businesses by continuing to frequent the area.

The entire construction project is anticipated to be complete in late 2025.
