Busy holiday travel on New Year’s Day
BROWN COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) – Another busy day to be out on the road, as the holiday season comes to a close, with millions heading home tonight from all over the country.
According to AAA, more than 119 million people traveled 50 miles or more from home from mid-December to now.
Now, AAA isn’t expecting much impact on the roads on Wednesday, but they said the worst time to drive is Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. due to a mix of people coming back from their holiday plans and normal commuters.
Action 2 News’ Victoria Frazier spoke with a family who decided to leave early Wednesday morning to try and beat traffic and weather conditions.
“I wish it wasn’t snowing for the drive you know 3 kids in the car it would be nice to have it clear, but it’s beautiful snow a nice way to start the new year,” Jessie Davis said.
As temperatures drop throughout Wednesday evening, Brown County highway crews remind drivers to stay at least 200 feet behind plows and salt trucks as they work to keep drivers safe.
