Camila Cabello Just Wore the Fashion Equivalent of a Mullet

A great button-up shirt can take you anywhere: to a job interview, the office, a weekend brunch, the list goes on. Just ask Camila Cabello, whose baby blue shirt was all business in the front and a total party in the back — just like the mullet hairstyle, but make it fashion.

Camila Cabello wore the pastel shirt with a retro-inspired jacket and miniskirt. When paired together, the blue shirt and taupe brown suit felt a little late ‘70s and early ‘80s in tone, save for the back of the shirt, which was all 2024. While Cabello wore the shirt buttoned all the way up to the collar for a prim and proper vibe, the shirt basically didn’t have a back at all, as you could see when she moved.

If you ever needed an example of “day to night” dressing, this is the one. The baby blue motif also appeared via a floral pin on her lapel and small, triangle-shaped strips of fabric at the hem of her miniskirt. She kept the jacket on for all the photos, so we didn’t get to see the backless shirt in all its glory, but the peekaboo effect is really fun. “Pink and blue, diamond eyes, look at what you lost in me,” she captioned her carousel of photos.

Cabello styled the surprise suit with white kitten heel mules, glasses, and straight hair with bangs, plus a vibrant baby blue eyeshadow on her lids. The musician wore the ensemble to perform on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge, including a cover of Addison Rae’s “Diet Pepsi” that she turned into a slow, lingering ballad. We may be firmly in fall now, but Cabello is making a very compelling case for wearing summery pastels with your favorite fall ‘fits. Backless shirt optional.
