Veritas grad falls in NCAA semifinals
Tufts junior Vuk Vuksanovic, who went to high school in Chesapeake, advanced to the semifinals before losing in singles at the NCAA Division III championships in St. Louis.
Vuksanovic, a former Veritas Collegiate Academy valedictorian who grew up in Montenegro, began Monday by registering his third singles victory of the 32-player event, defeating Amherst’s Andreas Sillaste 6-2, 6-3. Top-seeded Tristan Bradley of Bowdoin then ousted Vuksanovic 7-5, 7-5, gaining critical service breaks in the 11th game of each set. At 6-5, 40-30 in the second set, a serve by Bradley hit the net cord and changed trajectory, handcuffing Vuksanovic into a match-ending error.
