In their 12th meeting on New Year’s Eve at the World Juniors, Canada’s World Juniors team will take on the reigning champion Team USA in Ottawa in the final preliminary round game before both teams advance. The winner will take the top seed in Group A heading into the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship quarterfinals, making their first opponent the fourth seed from Group B.
In the last 10 years, USA has a winning record with four regulation wins, two overtime wins, and four regulation losses.
Both teams are 2-1, having lost to Finland for the US and Latvia for Canada in overtime. However, they are both at least locked into the quarterfinals, being among two of the top four teams in Group A.
