Casper contracts for business center demolition work

CASPER, Wyo. — The Casper Business Center needs some demolition work as part of the city’s ongoing efforts to turn it into the future Casper Police Department headquarters, and the Casper City Council approved a contract with Eagle Environmental Inc. for partial demoltion and asbestos abatement.

After a reduction of the $5.3 million base bid, the total contract amount is listed at $4,378,472, plus a contingency account of $221,528. The funding will be drawn from American Rescue Plan Act monies and CARES Act funds.

Police Facilities Design Group, the project’s architect, recommended that the first phase of the construction project be a separate contract for the demolition so that design and engineering work can be completed concurrently.

In 2022, the Casper City Council voted to purchase the downtown building with the goal of eventually using it to house the Casper Police Department and Information Technology Division.
