Cayuga County Tourism supports global ‘100 Travel Innovations’ initiative | Fingerlakes1.com

In celebration of World Tourism Day on Friday, the Cayuga County Board of Tourism announced its sponsorship of “100 Travel Innovations,” a global project highlighting programs that aim to improve lives environmentally, economically, and socially.

Produced by Destination Think, the initiative showcases stories from 100 destinations worldwide that are implementing innovative practices in the tourism industry. “The importance for our organization is to create a welcoming destination and foster community pride,” said Claire Dunlap, director of marketing and sales for Tour Cayuga. “We have a responsibility to represent the voices in our community and bring in tourism dollars that help these missions move forward.”

Situated in the heart of New York’s Finger Lakes region, Cayuga County has been dedicated to elevating underrepresented community members and honoring historical figures like Harriet Tubman. The county continues to develop projects that engage both visitors and residents, building lasting memories and inspiring local pride.

The launch includes innovations addressing biodiversity, climate resilience, cultural preservation, community prosperity, equality, modernization, responsible tourism, and job creation. The collection is expected to grow, offering more ideas to inspire travelers and those seeking meaningful changes in their own communities.

Destination Think curated the collection in collaboration with Todd Montgomery, a professor at Oregon State University and director of the Sustainable Tourism Lab. “We’re proud to produce ‘100 Travel Innovations’ with support from the Cayuga County Board of Tourism and other sponsors,” the organization stated.
