CBS Sports Texas Team’s Week 11 predictions: Texans vs. Cowboys

DALLAS — The Dallas Cowboys have dropped four consecutive games entering Week 11, taking on the Houston Texans, who have lost their last two games. 

Unlike the Cowboys, the Texans hold a winning record and are the top team in their division. As the Texans get wide receiver Nico Collins back in the lineup, the Cowboys rule out cornerback Jourdan Lewis and add CeeDee Lamb to the injury report with a back injury.

Monday night features a battle for Texas bragging rights. The Texans have lost three of their last four games, while the Cowboys are struggling with a 3-6 record and have dropped consecutive games. Both teams are missing key offensive weapons, so their defenses will be crucial as they fight to break free from this downward slide. 

The Cowboys seem distracted, with much of the focus on off-field issues—whether it’s debates about the sun or questions surrounding Micah Parsons’ support for his head coach. Monday night, however, should settle the debate about the sun. On the field, Dallas will need to concentrate on stopping Joe Mixon, who has rushed for over 100 yards in four of the last five games.

Things are looking grim in Dallas. The Texans take the Battle of Texas.

Until further notice, or until the Giants visit on Thanksgiving Day, it would be foolish to predict a Cowboys win.  However, they can keep this game close if they can a) hold onto the football and b) pressure C.J. Stroud, who has been sacked 34 times in 10 games. Texans hold on for an ugly 20-15 win that features 5 Brandon Aubrey field goals.

The battle of Texas is different from what we hoped it would be. The Texans are almost fully loaded, while the Cowboys are the walking wounded. The Texans will walk away with the crown of best in Texas this year as Collins, Mixon, Stroud, and Hunter will be too much to handle.

If the Cowboys were going to shock the world with an upset, Monday night at AT&T Stadium would be the perfect “opportunity” in the words of Mike McCarthy. There’s an apparent disconnect, as McCarthy himself has said communication from the top down hasn’t been where it needs to be, and players have been in the wrong spots on big plays. As the Cowboys enter Week 11, they are still figuring out mishaps in September. Although the Houston Texans have dropped their last two games, the offensive weapons surrounding C.J. Stroud are much more consistent than the Cowboys’ current situation, which has a questionable CeeDee Lamb.
