CHINA. With the holiday season in full swing, the cdf Haikou International Duty Free Shopping Complex is leveraging Hainan’s influx of tourists with valuable duty-free offers and summer-themed activities to attract both local and international visitors.

Throughout July a ‘Summer Fun: Meet the Cool’ event offers exclusive shopping discounts for locals, special offers at the mall’s eateries, complimentary portrait sketches with certain purchases, bracelet giveaways and exclusive in-store gifts for members. This ‘duty-free + cultural tourism’ model integrates dining, entertainment and shopping.

cdf Haikou International Duty-Free City is reigniting the ‘everything can be duty free’ social media trend this summer. New content includes short videos on Hainan’s duty-free policies, tourism routes in Haikou and virtual store tours by duty-free experts.

Summer-themed IP activities target social media users, with vouchers and prizes up for grabs

On seven official platforms (Weibo, WeChat Official Accounts, Douyin, Little Red Book, Bilibili, Dazhong Dianping and WeChat channels), a series of online matching games and challenges have been launched allowing participants the chance to win duty-free vouchers, beauty products and prizes.

The shopping venue has emphasised its ‘honest operation and quality service’ principles to attract consumers.

Offering immersive duty-free shopping experiences without having to leave the country, the retailer boasts 25 first-entry brands, 78 exclusive brands and numerous ‘first stores’ and ‘only stores’ in Hainan.

The mall has added pet-friendly facilities to its range of services, including stroller rentals and various care provisions for pets.

The customer service centre and VIP lounge facilities have been upgraded; new play areas for children and relaxation zones for customers have been added; and complimentary services, including luggage storage and round-trip shuttle buses, enhance convenience and comfort for customers.
