Central Community College adds trap shooting sports league

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) – Central Community College announced on Tuesday that they would be adding a trap shooting sports league to their roster of sports.

Athletic Director Mary Young was thrilled at the opportunities that this could provide her students with.

“We can scholarship up to sixteen athletes, and that’s our overall goal, to at least get to sixteen student athletes at some point with walk on opportunities available” Young said. “We obviously hope to diversity our group eventually, maybe into skeet or some other disciplines. Right now we’re going to start with clay targets.”

The most recent sport added to their catalogue was E-Sports, and they are excited to continue to expand their opportunities for students.

The first step they need to accomplish is hiring a coach for the team.

They hope in the 2024-2025 school year to have around 10 students competing, expanding that to the full 16 in the next school year.
