Chaffee BoCC Scheduled Executive Session on Challenge to Scheduled Bonfire Entertainment LLC Concert at The Meadows – by Jan Wondra – Ark Valley Voice

The Chaffee Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) will meet in regular session at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, in the Commissioner’s meeting room at 104 Crestone Avenue, Salida. On the packed agenda is a public hearing to consider a request to transfer a Colorado liquor retail license from Amber Waves Adventures LLC, DBA American Adventure Expeditions to All Forward Adventures LLC, DBA American Adventure Expeditions.

The BoCC will next consider increasing the maximum hourly fee for the research and retrieval of public documents in response to the Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) from $30.00 to $40.00, and then move on to convene as the Board of Health to consider Resolution 2024-01 Approving a BV Outdoors LLC Variance to install a water cistern.

The BoCC will end their meeting with two executive sessions:

  • An executive session under C.R.S §24-6-402(4)(b) for purposes of receiving legal advice on specific legal
    questions involving the court’s ruling on 23CA0965, Freed v. Bonfire Entertainment LLC. this follows a lawsuit filed by a few Buena Vista residents objecting to the concert noise levels.
  • An executive session under C.R.S §24-6-402(4)(b) for purposes of receiving legal advice on specific legal
    questions regarding special event applications.

Included in the consent agenda is a stipulation in Water Court Case 23CW3032, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, approval of the release of Lot Sales Restriction for Bos Minor Subdivision, and ratification of a Letter of Support for the renewal of the Colorado Parks & Wildlife Salida Area Office.

The hearing consent agenda includes an event liquor permit application for the Colorado Fourteeners Initiative – Sawatch Ascent Special Event on September 29, another liquor permit for their July 20 event known as the High Lonesome 100 Special Event (located in a large field near Frontier Ranch off of County Road 321, Buena Vista.

The BoCC will consider a third special event permit application for the Single Speed USA to take place on the Methodist and Arkansas Hills Trail Systems, Chavara Ranch on C.R. 140 on October 11-13, 2024.

Also on the consent hearing agenda a Settlement Agreement & Release regarding the Kroger Opioid Class Action Lawsuit, and approval of  a contract engineering services award of contract.
