‘Chaos’ as gaggle of Egyptian geese delays trains
Commuters in London described “total chaos” when a gaggle of Egyptian geese brought rush-hour trains to a standstill.
The birds travelled along the track between Mortlake and Richmond in south-west London on Friday morning.
Network Rail confirmed the avian trespassers had been removed within two hours and South Western Railway’s trains between London Waterloo and Twickenham could resume.
Software developer Stephen Sloan, who was fortunate to be travelling in the other direction, said: “It was total chaos.
“At first we thought there was industrial action or a tree branch on the line, then we saw the family of geese making their way up the track.
“I heard they travelled several stops down the line.”
