ChatGPT Windows App Download is Here, Says OpenAI • iPhone in Canada Blog

OpenAI has rolled out an early version of its ChatGPT desktop app for Windows, now available to ChatGPT Plus, Enterprise, Team, and Edu users. Surprisingly, despite the backing from Microsoft, ChatGPT for Mac launched first in June before this Windows app.

The app aims to enhance productivity with faster access and new features, and the full release for all users is expected later this year.

Windows users can quickly pull up ChatGPT using the Alt + Space shortcut, allowing instant access alongside other open apps. The new desktop version supports file and photo uploads, letting users summarize and analyze documents right in the chat.

This release also brings the latest model improvements, including access to OpenAI’s o1-preview model, designed to deliver smarter and more responsive interactions.

Key features of the ChatGPT Windows app include:

• Instant answers: Launch ChatGPT with a quick keyboard shortcut (Alt + Space).
• Companion window: Keep ChatGPT open next to other apps to stay productive.
