Childish Gambino drops surprise album, announces world tour with Pittsburgh stop
A day after the surprise release of an album, hip-hop artist Childish Gambino announced a world tour that includes a show in Pittsburgh.
Gambino, the stage name of actor Donald Glover, will bring The New World tour to PPG Paints Arena on Aug. 20.
The new album “Atavista” is, according to the artist, “the finished version” of “3.15.20,” which came out in 2020. Besides new song titles, there’s also a previously unheard song, “Little Foot Big Foot,” which arrived with a new video.
In the statement on Instagram, he said another new album would be arriving this summer.
Gambino will be joined by Willow (the daughter of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith), who also just released a new album, “Empathogen,” this month.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at ticketmaster.com, with an American Express presale beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday, and presales through Gambino, AEG and PPG Paints Arena starting at 10 a.m. Thursday.
