China Duty Free Group unleases Global Shopping Festival for May Day holiday
CHINA. As the all-important May Day holiday approaches, China Duty Free Group (CDFG) has kicked off a month-long shopping extravaganza – the Global Shopping Festival.
Running from 26 April, the festival encompasses major duty-free shops across CDFG’s online and offline channels, both domestically and internationally.
CDFG said themed activities, diverse offerings, and exciting discounts promise to elevate the duty-free shopping experience for consumers worldwide.
A festival of flowers, fun and fantastic deals
Shoppers can expect a transformed shopping experience at CDFG’s duty-free stores, the world’s number one travel retailer by sales said.
Transformed into “floral wonderlands”, the stores offer a visually stunning and vibrant atmosphere, CDFG added.
The festival features collaborations with over 30 brands, offering a curated shopping guide that leads consumers through various activities, including pop-up events, tastings, beauty shows, and comedy performances.
Notably, the cdf Sanya International Duty Free Shopping Complex in Haitang Bay features a giant capsule toy machine for prize draws throughout May.
Additionally, the complex will host a special mime performance from 1 to 3, blending silent artistry with dramatic narratives to enrich the shopping experience.
Super Brand Weeks, in partnership with over 1,000 luxury brands
CDFG has also partnered with top international brands to organise four themed ‘Super Brand Weeks’ tailored to different consumer needs.
These thematic weeks will feature over 1,000 brands in categories including wines & spirits, cosmetics and skin care, gourmet foods, lifestyle goods, watches, and jewellery.
Shoppers can look forward to in-store demos, time-limited discounts, and gifts with purchases, ensuring a weekly showcase of exclusive benefits and easy access to sought-after global products, CDFG said.
Exceptional value offers
Taking advantage of increased travel during the May Day holiday, CDFG is rolling out special promotions.
From 1 to 5 May, cdf Hainan offshore duty-free stores will offer a quintuple points program on select items.
From 26 April, cdf Haikou International Duty Free Shopping Complex issued duty-free shopping vouchers via the CDF Member WeChat mini-programme.
Consumers can also benefit from tiered discounts, bonus gifts for meeting spending thresholds, raffles, and plentiful rewards across both domestic and international duty-free stores and online platforms.
To further enhance the experience, CDFG has partnered with major payment providers such as China UnionPay, China Merchants Bank, Huaxia Bank, and Bank of Shanghai to offer perks such as membership points, cashback, and discounts.
At CDFG’s international duty-free stores, purchases will be eligible for double points with UnionPay International, plus further discounts through payment platforms such as WeChat and Alipay.

CDFG said it is consolidating membership benefits and resources from various brands during the event to deliver diverse member-exclusive perks.
By registering as a member, shoppers can unlock a world of benefits, including immediate point redemptions, birthday surprises, and exclusive offers across shopping, travel, hotels, and attractions.
CDF membership points are universally valid across over 60 international duty-free shops and online platforms.
