Christi Coachman succeeds Nick Weir as Royal Caribbean entertainment head

Coachman, a nearly 35-year Royal Caribbean veteran, was named VP entertainment and will oversee onboard entertainment and guest activities programming, as well as Royal Caribbean Productions, an in-house department that creates, produces and manages the company’s massive entertainment operation.

Sean Treacy, SVP hotel operations, congratulated Coachman in an international announcement on Monday.

From dancer to writer casting, producer, manager

Coachman began her career as a dancer and went on to perform in many shows, events and conventions around the world before joining Royal Caribbean’s entertainment department. She has written, cast and produced numerous productions and previously was responsible for the daily operation of front and back of house onboard for all produced dntertainment, including fully licensed Broadway and West End musicals, signature theater productions and ice, aquatic and Two70 shows. She also managed Royal Caribbean’s extensive Entertainment Studios in North Miami.

Weir exits after ushering in Icon of the Seas, with its powerhouse entertainment lineup including ‘The Wizard of Oz,’ AquaTheater extravaganzas with aerialists, extreme sports and high divers created for the AquaDome, original shows for the ice rink Absolute Zero, new parades and street parties and more.

‘We wish Nick well and we’re grateful for his contributions,’ a company spokesperson told Seatrade Cruise News.
