MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) -It’s National Small Business Week, an annual event hosted by the U.S. Small Business Administration to recognize small business owners nationwide.

The Small Business Administration defines a small business as one that employs fewer than 500 people. Small businesses account for half of America’s workforce, and more new jobs come from small businesses than any other source. They are vital to keeping America running.

Small Business Week is about recognizing outstanding service, innovation, and development and helping them continue to grow and thrive. The City of Montgomery and Montgomery County just announced new initiatives to support small businesses in the river region and have a number of events planned for the week designed specifically for small business owners.

According to Ken Ward with Montgomery County, “In partnership with our Ecosystem Resource Providers, this week will offer a series of opportunities to access resources and connect with like-minded entrepreneurs. Whether you’re just starting out with a budding idea, a seasoned entrepreneur seeking resources to sustain or scale your business, or simply looking to network, Small Business Week 2024 has something for everyone.”
