City of Springfield hosts workshop to help local entrepreneurs navigate startup processes
Looking to give small businesses a leg up and to connect local entrepreneurs with resources, Springfield’s Department of Workforce and Economic Vitality is hosting an event with workshops and panels about all things business.
SGF Business Lab is a free, half-day workshop taking place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at the efactory at 405 N. Jefferson Ave. The workshop will include presentations and panel discussions on how to write a business plan, secure financing, acquire permits, select a site, take advantage of tax incentives and other topics, according to a city news release.
Participants will hear from community partners as well as current small business owners about their challenges and successes in running a business.
“Our hope is that we can help small businesses and startups navigate the city requirements of permitting and licensing, while also making them aware of resources we and other organizations offer,” Amanda Ohlensehlen, Director of Workforce & Economic Vitality, said in the release.
Lunch will be provided, but participants are required to register online at www.springfieldmo.gov/SBL.
