Class of 2024 UH Sports Circle of Honor officially inducted at Celebration dinner

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The Class of 2024 UH Sports Circle of Honor was officially inducted Sunday night at the annual Celebration dinner.

Five new members will now line the concourse walls of SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.

The group includes UH football player Jim Kalili.

Trailblazing sports writers Ann Miller and Cindy Lewis were inducted as a duo.

“We don’t do it for these awards, we do it for our readers,” Inductee Cindy Lewis told Hawaii News Now. “So it’s really nice to be recognized, but nothing we ever expected.”

The 2010 UH softball team, who had a magical run in the College Softball World Series.

“For them to be honored, for the team to be honored for all of their accomplishments and everything, it’s just a dream come true for them.” UH softball head coach Bob Coolen said. “Everyone wants to leave their mark nd they left a legacy here in the state of Hawaii.”

Former UH football head coach June Jones rounded out this year’s class.

“I don’t see all these people regularly, but it’s good fun to have everybody here and so it was very good evening,” June Jones said. “Glad all the coaches and people that worked with me came because it’s really an award for them.”

The group wsa honored at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel for their contributions to UH Athletics.
