Classic RTS Games Warcraft and Warcraft 2 Fully Remastered And Out Now
Blizzard has announced that the original Warcraft and Warcraft 2, as well as its expansions, are being remastered and re-released as part of a new Battle Chest. This new package also includes Warcraft 3 Reforged, which has received a new update improving its visuals. And all of this is available today.
During Wednesday’s Warcraft 30th Anniversary Direct event, Blizzard announced a series of updates to existing Warcraft games. For example, Warcraft Rumble is getting new heroes and will be playable on PC next month. And Warcraft’s spin-off card game, Hearthstone, is getting a Starcraft mini-expansion in January 2025. But the big news was the announcement and release of a new Warcraft RTS collection bringing remastered versions of the first three games to a new generation via a just-released updated edition of the classic Battle Chest.
On November 13, Blizzard announced that it was remastering the first two Warcraft RTS games—-Warcraft: Orcs and Heroes and Warcraft II and its expansion, Beyond The Dark Portal—to celebrate 30 years of the franchise. Here’s the trailer for the newly announced remasters.
As shown in the trailer above, Blizzard’s new Warcraft Battle Chest also includes the previously remastered Warcraft 3: Reforged. That game launched in 2020 to negative reviews from fans, and since then Blizzard has updated it to improve the remastered RTS. Today, as part of the new Battle Chest, Reforged is getting a new 2.0 update. This update improves the visuals and adds new options to let players use more classic art and models.
The Warcraft Battle Chest is now available on Battle.net for PC and includes not only the three remastered Warcraft games but also the original Warcraft 1 and 2 as well. So if you want to replay the OG versions of these beloved strategy games, you can do that, too.
