Clinton National Airport offers holiday travel tips for firearm packing
LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — As the Christmas travel season approaches, Clinton National Airport is providing guidance on properly packing firearms and what items are permissible in carry-on luggage.
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) mandates that all firearms must be transported in checked baggage. Firearms must be unloaded, packed in a locked, hard-sided container, and declared to the airline at check-in.
Additionally, all liquids, gels, and aerosols in containers larger than 3.4 ounces must be placed in checked luggage. TSA officers advise that any items capable of causing bodily injury should not be carried in your carry-on.
“A lot of cooking implements, so rolling pins, even toy bats, cast iron skillets are some that we see every travel season, as well as knives and pizza cutters, anything like that is considered a prohibited item and must be packed in your checked luggage,” said Patricia Mancha, a media spokesperson for the Arkansas TSA.
Clinton National Airport anticipates approximately 80,000 travelers during the Christmas rush. To ensure timely arrival for flights, it is recommended that passengers arrive at the airport two hours early.
