Club One aiming to transform local fitness, entertainment scene; targeting 2025 opening date
Owensboro will soon be home to a cutting-edge fitness facility, with Club One set to open next summer. Spearheaded by local entrepreneur Dustin Edge, Club One will offer 90,000+ square feet of state-of-the-art fitness amenities as the first phase of a larger, three-phase development called “Project Entertainment.”
Edge, who currently owns the Owensboro Athletic Club, envisions Club One as more than just a gym – he said it’s designed to create an exceptional experience for every guest.
“We want it to be a place where families, youth, and individuals can enjoy becoming the best version of themselves,” Edge said. “And how better to do that than with a fun and entertaining experience?”
The new facility will be located just off J.R. Miller Boulevard in the vacant lot that sits behind the Best Buy shopping center and next to Champion Ford.
A State-of-the-Art Fitness Facility
Club One will boast more than 20,000 square feet of cardio and weight training equipment, an indoor track, a full-size regulation basketball court, two indoor pools (one dedicated to a swim school), hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, and a recovery spa. Additional features include tanning, hydromassage, massage chairs, and in-house personal training.
The gym will also host a 20,000+ square-foot sports training facility, which could include baseball and softball training areas, rock climbing walls, and space for other sports that could utilize a large turf area. This part of the facility is still under development, with more details expected soon.
Alongside these amenities, Edge said several local businesses, including Gracie Owensboro Jiu-Jitsu and Optimize U, will join the space. He said that will help create a community of like-minded fitness and wellness services.
Future Development Plans
“Project Entertainment” will unfold over three phases on a 40-acre property, with Club One as the first phase. Edge said he will reveal the second and third phases in the coming months. He promises to introduce unique outdoor and indoor activities to keep Owensboro citizens active and entertained.
“The attractions and services we have planned for the later phases are outside the realm of fitness,” Edge said. “They will bring something new and needed to Owensboro and keep people moving and having fun.”
Community Focus
Edge expects the new facility to bring approximately 55 new full-time and part-time jobs to the area. Pre-sales for Club One memberships are set to begin in October or November, and updates will be available on the gym’s social media channels.
In addition to Club One, Edge is also launching Edge Nutrition, a new supplement and smoothie shop offering a variety of healthy smoothies for pre- and post-workout meals, along with a selection of top supplement and vitamin brands.
Reflecting on the journey to this point, Edge expressed gratitude for his wife, Mary, and Steve Hayden of Hayden Construction.
“I couldn’t have done this without their support,” he said.
Looking Ahead
Construction on Club One has just begun, with completion targeted for late summer 2025. The facility will have additional unused space that Edge plans to develop based on community feedback.
“We’re listening to the public and will bring in new services that aren’t currently available here,” he said.
