CMU Football wins 3rd conference game in a row in dominant fashion

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – Make it three in a row for the Colorado Mesa Mavericks Football Team.

Coming off a thrilling win where the Mavericks stunned the reigning conference champion Colorado Mines, the Mavericks did not lose any momentum, rolling the Adams State Grizzlies on the road in Alamosa 52-10.

Historically the Mavericks have had a ups and downs at Rex Stadium in Alamosa, but certainly not this time around.

The Mavericks have deployed multiple running backs this season and have ridden the hot hand. This time around Brandon Belgrave was scorching hot, torching the Grizzlies defense for a career-high 163 yards on just 16 carries, highlighted by a 48-yard breakaway run on the second play of the game.

Quarterback Liu Aumnavae was very efficient, completing 12 of his 17 pass attempts and picking up two touchdowns through the air.

The biggest splash play for CMU arguably was by Wide Receiver Noah Greer who ran a ASU kickoff back 88-yards the other way for a special team touchdown.

The win puts the Mavericks in third place in the Rocky Mountain Athletics Conference, behind CSU Pueblo and Western Colorado, ahead of the CMU Homecoming game next week against the New Mexico Highlands Cowboys.

The Cowboys just took down the Chadron State Eagles 33-30. CMU beat the Eagles 18-3 at Stocker Stadium for their first conference win of the season.
