College World Series enters weather delay; fans advised to seek shelter

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Strong to severe thunderstorms are bearing down on the Omaha metro area — also impacting the College World Series.

Omaha Police advised on social media that they are asking fans to shelter for the time being. CHI Health Center has opened its doors for those near the stadium or Omaha Baseball Village to have a place to ride the storm out.

As for the game itself, CWS officials announced a weather delay around 5:30 p.m.; as of 7:20 p.m., it’s still unclear when play will resume.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect for the Omaha metro and much of eastern Nebraska and far western Iowa until 10 p.m.
