Columbus airports see record-breaking summer travel season
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Columbus air travel has ascended to the top of the record books.
John Glenn Columbus International Airport and Rickenbacker International Airport had record-breaking travel seasons with 2.58 million passengers, making it the busiest season in history for the Columbus Regional Airport Authority (CRAA).
June and July were the two busiest months in CRAA history, while August was the busiest August ever.
“Our summer numbers are a testament to the trust our passengers place in us and the hard work of our dedicated team,” CRAA President & CEO Joseph Nardone said. “We’re committed to providing seamless travel while preparing to break ground on our new terminal at John Glenn International to meet growing demand and enhance the customer journey.”
The summer travel season surpassed last year’s numbers by 8%, with the airports seeing an average of 134 departures each day.
This year has been a busy one for Columbus airports, as seven of the first eight months have seen passenger records set.
