Coming Up! Weekend’s worth of entertainment at Riverside – Vero News
Riverside Theatre has entertainment for the whole family this weekend. The organization has expanded its popular Live in the Loop series this summer to include free Thursday evening concerts performed by local musicians. Bands will play from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday evenings in the venue’s outdoor setting. The schedule for June is: June 6, 20th Street Jazz Band performing funk, jazz, R&B and more; June 13, Hot Sauce Moon performing country, blues and folk rock; June 20, Fort Pierce Jazz and the Blues Society performing jazz and blues; and June 27, Beachside Jazz performing jazz and swing. Admission is free. Limited seating, so bring a chair. Riverside’s popular children’s dance and theater program, Playtime in the Park, will perform a Mixed Up Fairytale and a preview of “Shrek Jr.” beginning 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, on the theater’s outdoor Loop Stage. Admission to Playtime in the Park is free. (By the way, the “Shrek Jr.” preview is just that, a preview. The full “Shrek Jr.” show runs June 14-16 on the theater’s Stark Stage and tickets to that are $10.) Riverside’s Comedy Zone presents headliner Richy Leis and feature act John Charles this weekend with emcee Josh Armenteros. The standup shows begin at 6 and 8 p.m. Friday, June 7, and Saturday, June 8. All seats are $25. Additionally, the weekend Live in the Loop concerts will feature Collins & Company performing rock, pop, country, Motown and reggae from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 7. Melinda Elena will cover hits from a wide range of genres from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 8. Riverside Theatre is at 3250 Riverside Park Dr., Vero Beach. The Sebastian Chamber of Commerce presents its next in a series of Concerts in the Park Friday evening. The concert will feature Tom MacLear and Renele. Admission is free. Be sure to bring your own lawn chair. The concert runs from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 7, in Riverview Park, at the intersection of U.S. 1 and County Road 512 in Sebastian. The Vero Beach Theatre Guild runs its Theatrical Learning Center from June 10 to June 28 for students entering 3rd through 9th grade in the fall of 2024. It runs weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $500. There will be an end of camp performance on June 28-30.
