LAUREL, Miss. (WDAM) – A Laurel family is counting the days until their quintuplets arrive.

Ashley and Tyler Meyers have been married for seven years and already have two daughters. Now, in only a matter of weeks, this family of four will become a family of nine.

“They were little, bitty specks when we found four of them,” said Ashley Meyers. “It took a whole two weeks later to find the fifth one.”

Ashley and Tyler Meyers are preparing to welcome not one, but five babies into the world.

With a due date of Oct. 3, Ashley Meyers said doctors are expecting them to arrive as early as August.

“We went to Stork Secret,” Ashley Meyers said. “I was about five or six weeks with barely a dot on the screen, but just wanted to see,“ Ashely Meyers said. “There were two, guaranteed, at that point, a third possible, and a fourth that was like, ‘Nah, we don’t think so.”

The Meyers said this was all a surprise after moving into their new home.

“Another (baby), I thought was fine,” Tyler Meyers said. “Two, no big deal. They’re just babies, you know? Then, the more that kept coming, it was overwhelming.

“But it’s just part of it.”

After confirmation from multiple doctors, the Meyers have been busy putting together baby beds, swings, and car seats, as well as doing lots of laundry.

“These have all been bought off my registry, all three of the swings from people in the community, my siblings,” said Ashley Meyers.

The community now is in full support, rallying behind the Meyers to get them everything they need. This is thanks to Mayders and Tayders owner Angie Ducksworth in Seminary.

“Customers are family, and we strive to be personable,” Ducksworth said. “We want to know about your kids, your dogs, what’s going on in your life.”

Ducksworth said the Meyers have been regular shoppers for a while and felt it was her turn to support them.

“Ashely is special,” said Ducksworth. “We don’t know anybody that has quints. When she walked in and told us she was having quints we just couldn’t believe it.

“We have been working on promoting their registry, trying to help raise money for things that they need because Ashley will be going in the hospital shortly and wants everything bought and done before she goes,”

Said Ashley Meyers: “Everybody has donated a crib, so the crib you see has been donated to us.”

Ducksworth said the response so far has been teriffic.

“We are very grateful for how much people have donated, and helped, as far as financially, if that’s just their support coming to wash bottles or help me clean and put up cribs,” Ducksworth said. “We have just been very blessed.”

Ducksworth said there’s an old saying she lives by, a saying the Meyers plan to adopt.

“They say it takes a village to raise a child,” said Ducksworth. “It’s going to take a big old town to raise these five. We need help.”
