Community rallies at Bowman Place shopping center to support local families in need

Bowman Place shopping center is inviting the community to come together this holiday season with a food drive supporting East Cooper Community Outreach.

East Cooper Community Outreach works to support families facing hardship, offering services such as emergency assistance, healthcare and education. The group depends on donations to keep its food pantry stocked and accessible to local families facing financial hardship.

This combined effort seeks to stock East Cooper Community Outreach’s pantry, collecting essential non-perishable food and household items from the community that will go directly into helping local individuals and families in need of assistance.

“ECCO is deeply grateful to our neighbors at Bowman Place for organizing this generous food drive. Their support exemplifies the power of the community coming together to do good,” said Executive Director Stephanie Kelley in a prepared statement. “This partnership strengthens our shared commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of those we serve, and we are thankful for their dedication to providing immediate help to neighbors in their time of need.”

Participating businesses include Charleston Hormone Services, Bakery, Evolve Modern Pilates, J. Crew Factory, Kairos Mediterranean, Kid Strong, The Gallery Hair Salon, and Scraps of Magic.

Suggested donation items include canned fruits and vegetables, proteins such as tuna or peanut butter, pasta, rice, cereal, shelf-stable milk, laundry detergent, toilet paper, shampoo, and conditioner.

The drive will begin Nov. 24 and will run until Dec. 8.
