BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A business conference in Baton Rouge aims to help small business owners succeed.

The Louisiana Minority Business Development Agency Business Center is hosting the “EmpowerED Entrepreneurs: Accelerating Success” Small Business Training Conference from July 14-15 at the Renaissance Hotel, 7000 Bluebonnet Blvd.

According to the website, a Small Business Awards Reception is set for 6-8 p.m. Sunday, July 14, and a Training Conference from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday, July 15.

“This conference is focused on empowering our small and minority-owned businesses with proper training and resources to help them accelerate their success – and we’ve got more than 20 different sessions offering knowledge for everyone,” said LAMBDA’s Executive Director Charletta Fortson.

Organizers said a few of the headliners include Henry Coaxum Jr., former owner of 147 McDonald’s restaurants and now a real estate developer and philanthropist out of New Orleans, Nortisha Kirts Glover, owner of NRK Construction and Eric Porter, entrepreneur and instructor for the Affordable Housing Program offered by Southern University’s EDA University. Attendees will also learn how to maximize their government contracting strategy from industry pioneer Derrick Surrat, founder of the Federal Forecasting application.
