The Dallas Cowboys have made it official. On Tuesday, the club made six changes to their roster, including officially saying goodbye to wideout CeeDee Lamb, who is holding out in an effort to secure more financial security.

To this point, the team has dealt with his absence without making anything official. There was no need to create room on their 90-man offseason roster but two weeks into training camp the need has arisen. Dallas has moved Lamb to the Reserved/Did Not Report list ahead of their first exhibition game this Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams.

In addition, Dallas moved DE Sam Williams, who tore his ACL early in camp, to Reserve/Injured, officially ending his season. Williams was expected to take on a bigger role in Dallas’ edge rusher rotation following the free agency departure of both Dorance Armstrong, Jr. and Dante Fowler, who both went to Washington, DC with Dan Quinn (along with center Tyler Biadasz).

They also released linebacker Byron Vaughns.

The moves were necessary as they added three new defenders on Tuesday. That included former Chiefs linebacker Darius Harris, as well as DT Albert Huggins and LB Nick Vigil.

Dallas continues to try to augment their defensive troops in the mold of new defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, who has left much of the secondary intact but has re-imagined the team’s Front 7. The three newcomers will have the better part of two weeks to acclimate themselves as it’s unlikely any of them will see on-field action on Sunday.

Meanwhile Al Harris, who tookover the whole secondary as Joe Whitt, Jr. went with Quinn to DC, also took on the Assistant Head Coach title and is working on teaching his troops Zimmer’s complicated back-end defense.
