Plans to open a Crumbl Cookies location at the Lee Harrison Shopping Center have, well, crumbled.

The national cookie chain is no longer moving into 2439 N. Harrison Street off Langston Blvd, a leasing agent for the property manager told ARLnow. It would have filled the space formerly of an urgent care, which moved to a larger space in the shopping strip.

A “For Lease” sign recently appeared above the storefront, stirring up speculation that the opening of the long-awaited shop was no longer happening.

The updated plans have seemingly not made it to Crumbl’s corporate office, however, as a company spokesperson said Tuesday that the project was still ongoing. Crumbl’s “Coming Soon” signs in the space’s windows remained as of Wednesday afternoon.

The project was announced in June 2022, with a target opening date for the cookie bakery later that year. The most recent expectation was that the store would open this past spring, but the doors remained closed.

Crumbl offers a rotating weekly menu of cookie options, such as peanut butter & jelly, lemon cake and honey bun. The chain has also dove into pastries, producing items such as mini butter cakes.

Another upcoming Crumbl location in Arlington is still in the works, according to a company spokesperson. The shop coming to 1446 N. Grant Street in Pentagon City is scheduled to open late this year or early in 2025.
