CT Airport Authority predicts busy summer travel season

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT (WFSB) – A busy summer travel season was predicted at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks.

The Connecticut Airport Authority on Tuesday that Bradley saw about 1.6 million passengers travel through the airport during the summer months of 2023.

Based on national predictions, it expected summer 2024 to be on par with the previous year, or higher.

It provided some notes for travelers, which included new and returning destinations for the summer.

Breeze Airways offered new nonstop service to:

  • Cincinnati, OH
  • Greenville-Spartanburg, SC
  • Myrtle Beach, SC
  • New Bern, NC
  • Orlando, FL

These routes returned to Bradley for the summer:

  • Los Angeles, CA (JetBlue)
  • Minneapolis, MN (Sun Country)
  • Myrtle Beach, SC (Spirit)
  • Denver, CO (Southwest)

The Connecticut Airport Authority, in partnership with Travelers Aid International, launched a new concierge service for passengers at Bradley International Airport. Starting July 1, a concierge team member can be booked to meet and greet passengers upon their arrival at the airport and help with:

  • Checking in at the airline ticket counter
  • Going through the TSA security checkpoint via priority access
  • Accompanying the passenger(s) directly to their gate
  • Delivering food directly to the gate through BDL Market
  • Retrieving checked bags
  • Assisting to/from parking, pick up or car rental

Airport officials said the concierge service is ideal for older adults who may be traveling alone and need assistance, families with children, first-time fliers, anyone with special needs, or individuals who just want an extra helping hand on their journey through the airport. Also, all TSA PreCheck lanes have been relocated from the main TSA security checkpoint to the secondary checkpoint located between the United Airlines ticket counter and the hallway to the Sheraton Hotel. This secondary location is dedicated for passengers enrolled in TSA PreCheck and those who have both TSA PreCheck and CLEAR.
