Perhaps it’s no surprise that Dallas native Presley Oldham is one of 10 finalists for this year’s Council of Fashion Designers of America/Vogue Fashion Fund. He comes from an accomplished creative clan. His uncle is famed fashion and design mogul Todd Oldham (who spent a good chunk of the ‘90s hanging out with supermodels on MTV’s House of Style). And his dad is Dallas sculptor Brad Oldham.
Presley Oldham got his start about four years ago when his pandemic hobby became crafting funky, gender-neutral jewelry from old pearls and beads. He couldn’t keep up with demand for the pieces and soon a small indie line was born. Now, he is one of the few jewelry makers ever chosen as a finalist for the CFDA/Vogue fund, which was established in 2003 to help support the next generation of emerging American designers. The winner receives $300,000 and will be announced in October.
