Damien Harris to join CBS Sports HQ pregame show

Two weeks after news broke that Damien Harris would not be Alabama’s radio sideline reporter this season, the former Crimson Tide running back has landed a different broadcasting job.

Harris will serve as an analyst for College Football Pregame, a three-hour show set to stream each Saturday morning on CBS Sports HQ. The show debuts at 8 a.m. this Saturday, the first full day of the 2024 college football season.

Harris, who played at Alabama from 2015-18 and later spent five seasons in the NFL, was announced Aug. 8 as the new sideline reporter for the Crimson Tide Sports Network. However, less than a week later, play-by-play announcer Chris Stewart told AL.com that Harris had instead decided to pursue “another opportunity.”

Harris will be part of a 16-person cast for College Football Pregame, along with fellow analysts Danny Kanell, Beanie Wells and Cardale Jones, among others. Former AL.com sports writer Matt Zenitz will serve as one of several reporters for the show, which will preview that weekend’s college football action and also provide updates and information throughout the day.

Crimson Tide Sports Network has not yet hired a permanent replacement for Harris, but announced Monday that former Alabama and NFL defensive end Damion Square would fill the role for Saturday’s season-opener vs. Western Kentucky.
