Danville pet business employee charged with animal cruelty

DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ) – A Danville pet business employee was charged and arrested Friday for animal cruelty.

According to the Danville Police Department, deputies received a complaint Thursday including a video shared to social media

Police say the video shows Cassidy Gill, 22, striking a dog while working at a grooming and pet care business on Hairston Street.

According to police, the incidents occurred in January and February of 2024. The condition of the dog has not been released.

Animal Control and detectives from the Criminal Investigations Unit charged Gill with animal cruelty and served the warrant on Friday, police say.

Police say no other criminal charges are expected.
