Darren Criss Makes Dramatic Arrival in Poofy Purple Skirt With Christian Siriano at 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards
Darren Criss made a dramatic arrival wearing a Christian Siriano confection at the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards on Monday in New York.
The “Glee” star wore a poofy purple tulle skirt that featured black floral appliqués, pairing it with a cropped tuxedo jacket. The actor was bare-chested beneath, topping his look off with a sprinkle of jewelry.
Siriano’s been giving ballet-inspired styles a spin lately, with Kate Beckinsale wearing a balletcore dress from the designer’s spring 2024 collection at Variety’s Power of Women event on Friday. The look featured a satin corset bodice with lace-up detailing and a theatrical, puffball-style skirt.
The designer’s romantic spring 2025 show, which Criss sat on the front row, drew on many of the same themes of his ballet-inspired spring 2024 show.
“I really wanted people to feel like they’re transported into this kind of storybook dream world,” Siriano said backstage of the Grimms fairy-tale fantasy he created.
Full of his voluminous silhouettes, tulle on tulle created a pink cloud-like dress fit for a storybook princess.
When the show was over, WWD reported Criss gave it a thumbs up. “It was beautiful. Gorgeous,” he said.
Later that month, Siriano hosted an informal spring 2025 collection preview over cocktails at his new Paris apartment, with Heidi Klum and Coco Rocha in attendance.
In addition to fashion, Siriano has a thriving interior decorating business, his Paris apartment furnished with modern art and contemporary “melting” light fixtures from flea markets around Europe, including Saint Ouen in Paris, he said.
At the award show, WWD spotted Criss and Siriano being stopped by Jeremy O. Harris as they dipped through the entrance at 8 p.m. — the program’s official start time. Cigarette break? Irish goodbye? We love a little mystery.
The 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards took place at the American Museum of Natural History in New York on Oct. 28, with Cynthia Erivo hosting. Honorees at this year’s ceremony included Coach, Michael Kors, Annie Leibovitz and finally, Erykah Badu, who received the coveted Fashion Icon Award.
