Data shows Louisiana gambling revenues down in June – Louisiana – The Black Chronicle

(The Center Square) — The Gaming Control Board in Louisiana released its gaming revenue numbers for June and revenues were down across the board.

For every gambling category — video gaming, Harrah’s casino, riverboats, racetracks, retail and mobile sports, fantasy sports — revenues fell from May to June.

For sports gaming it was to be expected in a month with little competition. Mobile sports dropped around 20% to a little over $24.8 million. Retail sport gaming dropped at an even higher clip from near $2.2 million to $1.4 million. The difference between the two is mobile sports is still seeing a 73.2% increase from the previous year, whereas retail sports has seen a 22.3% decrease.

The difference is also reflected in the wagers, as mobile saw a 37.2% increase in wagers year over year and retail had a 5% decrease.

Fantasy sports dropped $15,000 from May to June, with $59,000 in revenue this month. The drop from the previous year is the most staggering, with a 36.9% decrease.

Harrah’s casino dropped 23.9% as well to just over $15 million. Video gaming and racetracks revenues experienced a less dramatic fall. Video gaming had a 7.1% decrease to $60 million from May to June and racetracks saw a decrease of 2.4% to $28 million.

Riverboat revenues decreased less than a million dollars from the previous month, which is quite a small percentage considering its total June revenue was more than $153 million.

All four categories are seeing a decrease in year to year revenue as well. For Harrah’s casino, it was an 8% drop, along with riverboats (2% drop), video gaming (3.9% decrease) and racetracks (down 0.9%).

With the decrease in revenue comes a drop in taxes for all categories, except Harrah’s Casino which has seen an increase in their yearly taxes by 0.1%.
