Daya Vicentelli Failed Drug Test at FITLAND Fitness Festival

Daya Vicentelli finished in third place at the FITLAND Fitness Festival last month and was set to receive an invite to compete in the LatAm Cup at 2025 TYR Wodapalooza Miami. However, Vicentelli failed the in-competition drug test when her sample tested positive GW15166-sulfone, GW1516-sulfoxide and metabolites of GW-501516.

FITLAND Fitness Festival tested all three men and three women who finished on the podium at this year’s competition. Vicentelli was the only athlete to fail the drug test.

As a result of the drug test, Kilya Marchant, who originally was in 4th place, has been moved up to 3rd place and will now receive an invite to compete in the LatAm Cup this January.

The drug tests were conducted by Drug Free Sport, the same organization that CrossFit uses for its drug testing program. Vicentelli is likely to receive a 4-year sanction from CrossFit as a result of the failed drug test.

Section 11 of the 2024 CrossFit Games Drug Testing Policy states that CrossFit “may…recognize drug-policy violations, including positive tests, reported by other national anti-doping organizations.” The drug policy continues, “Once a final decision in the case has been announced by the testing agency or sports governing body, CrossFit, LLC, will, in each case, determine its own sanction for the athlete involved.”

CrossFit utilized this clause when it sanctioned Marcha van Glannen Weygel for failing a drug test during a Masters Weightlifting competition after we broke the news.

Organizers of the FITLAND Fitness Festival have shared the test results with CrossFit, but have not received a response at the time of this article was published. Vicentelli is also currently not listed on the list of athletes serving a sanction for violating the drug testing policy.

FITLAND Fitness Festival has been drug testing its top athletes since 2019.

Vicentelli competed at the 2024 North America East Semifinal on Team CrossFit Soul Miami Team Soul. Her team finished 22nd overall.
