Three days after resigning as the Mariners’ president of business operations, Catie Griggs accepted the same position with another MLB club, the Baltimore Orioles, on Monday.
Griggs was the first woman to hold the title of president for the Mariners, and she’s the first woman for the Orioles in that role, too.
She’s also the first major hire for David Rubenstein, who took ownership of the Orioles earlier this year.
“Catie’s track record of success, diverse business experience, and commitment to excellence made her the perfect fit to lead the next chapter of our business operation in Baltimore,” Rubenstein said in a statement. “The entire Orioles organization welcomes Catie as we continue to elevate every aspect of our operation.”
The Mariners hired Griggs in July 2021.
She came to Seattle after four years as the chief business officer for Atlanta United of MLS. Before that, she spent two years as the general manager of Futures Sports + Entertainment, and three years before that as a senior director at Turner Broadcasting.
A North Carolina native, Griggs graduated from Dartmouth University.
John Stanton, the Mariners’ managing partner, will take over Griggs’ responsibilities on an interim basis until a new president of business operations is found.
