DDA offers new spin on Ladies Night Out, seeks business participation

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – The Marquette Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is switching to a more inclusive version of the classic Ladies Night Out event.

For the entire day on Nov. 21, everyone is invited to hit Downtown Marquette for Downtown Day Out. Shop, dine and enjoy exclusive specials and promotions from downtown businesses before the holidays. This change makes it more accessible for businesses that close earlier and for people looking to shop earlier in the day.

Mike Bradford, Marquette DDA business outreach and promotions director, said they’re reminding people that they have another option for holiday shopping.

“This kind of opens up the doors before, you know the holidays kick open,” Bradford said. “Especially before Black Friday. Where you know the big box stores, the big corporate companies you know, have that first day, we wanted to get people downtown to see that there is a more unique option and offering here in Downtown Marquette.”

Bradford says the DDA is seeking more downtown business participation.

“Last year we saw around 70 businesses participating. This year, I hope to see the same or even more, and that is the entire downtown from Third Street, all the way to Baraga, Lakeshore and all the way to the Marquette Food Co-Op.”

To participate as a business you have to register by Nov. 8. You can do that here.

While Downtown Day Out is all day, Ladies Night Out is still on the schedule from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Nov. 21.
