DEVELOPING: Crime scene at Academy Sports in Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) – KALB is tracking a controlled scene at the Academy Sports + Outdoors in Alexandria where we are receiving reports of shots fired.

The City of Alexandria said that the Alexandria Police Department has the “situation contained” but did not elaborate on what the situation actually is.

The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office had units on the scene but confirmed they were merely assisting and had no information to share.

We were told a release will be sent from APD soon with more information.
