Discount store to open at Harrisburg shopping center

A new discount store is coming to Harrisburg.

Roses Discount Stores will open a new location next to the Dollar Tree in the Uptown Plaza shopping center at Seventh and Division Streets.

An official with Maryland-based America’s Realty LLC, which purchased the shopping center earlier this year, confirmed last week that Roses was opening at the shopping center. It’s not clear when the store will open. The closest Roses store to the Harrisburg area is in East Manchester Township, York County.

Roses sells seasonal, home, pet, outdoor, and health and beauty items as well as clothing and toys.

A sign on the front of the Harrisburg store invites people to apply to work at the store. The company is currently hiring a store manager and an assistant store manager/key carrier for the location, according to its website.

The 67-year-old Uptown Plaza shopping center sits on about 14 acres.

The shopping center consists of two strips of stores and two pad sites, and has more than 20 businesses including Dollar Tree and Save-a-Lot. There are also two pad sites. A McDonald’s is situated on one pad site while the other pad site is vacant.
