Discovery World partners with WVU Medicine Camden Clark for International Museum Day

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – International Museum Day is on Saturday May 18th. In honor of this, Discovery World on Market is partnering with WVU Medicine Camden Clark.

Camden Clark will be sponsoring the first 200 kids, giving them free admission!

Wendy Shriver, the executive director of Discovery World explained that International Museum Day, “provides the opportunity for participating museums to plan creative events and activities related to the International Museum Day theme, engage with their public and highlight the importance of the role of museums as institutions that serve society and its development.”

Shriver said the partnership between Discovery World and WVU Medicine Camden Clark came about about WVU Medicine is sponsoring an exhibit and special events. She also said they wanted to find a community partner who supports Discovery World’s mission and would want to provide the free admission for the special day. Shriver said the WVU Medicine jumped at the opportunity.

Shriver said that offering free admission is important so that everyone has the opportunity to visit the museum.

“We want to be able to offer the children in community who may have not visited the museum an opportunity to come with their parents and Discover what we have to offer,” Shriver said.
