The Storybook Vale Expansion

A new paid expansion is coming to Disney Dreamlight Valley, though this time, it’s split into two parts. Part 1 of The Storybook Vale, Welcome to the Vale, is set to release on November 20, 2024, and features Merida from Brave, Flynn from Tangled, and Hades from Hercules. Part 2 is coming in 2025, and will introduce Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty and one unknown character.

The Vale has been torn apart by Hades and Maleficent, and it’s up to you to restore order by helping the Lorekeeper, a mysterious book. There are three Biomes to explore: the Bind, Everafter, and Mythopia, each with their own resources, such as plants and fish. You’ll find Meridith in the Bind, Hades in Mythopia, and Flynn Rider in Everafter. Apparently, something special will happen if you reintroduce Flynn to Rapunzel (who appears in the first expansion, A Rift in Time).

As you explore the Biomes, you’ll encounter Trials, which are quests inspired by fairy tales. You’ll need to use your Royal Tools to solve them.

Speaking of Royal Tools, a new Royal Tool is being added in The Storybook Vale: the Royal Net. With it, you’ll capture book pages in the form of Snippets, which are cute origami creatures. Most of them will appear solely in The Vale, but there will be some rare ones hidden back in Dreamlight Valley for you to find and catch. Like Critters, each type of Snippet will have unique catch mechanics, so you’ll need to figure out the best way to do so. They also come in various color variants.

Each Snippet will unlock a puzzle piece in the Lorekeeper book. Once you’ve collected all of a puzzle on a page, you’re able to display them in your home as furniture items.

There are three Snippet types, each tied to a different Biome:

  • Owl – the Bind
  • Mini Dragon – Everafter
  • Mini Winged Horse – Mythopia
