Display shipments for M4 MacBook Air and new iPhone SE set to begin soon as early 2025 launches near – 9to5Mac
Apple is planning a host of M4 Mac announcements for next week, but one model that won’t be included is the MacBook Air. However, a new report indicates we shouldn’t have to wait long for Apple’s most popular Mac to get updated, or the new iPhone that’s expected shortly afterwards.
Display shipments usually have around three months lead time before launches
Display analyst Ross Young, in two subscriber-only posts on X, says that display shipments for the new MacBook Air and iPhone SE are about to begin.
For the M4 Air, he notes the shipments are expected to start ‘this month.’ Since the month’s almost over that makes them imminent.
The iPhone SE 4, meanwhile, is expected to start panel shipments in November.
It’s typical for these kinds of shipments to take place roughly around three months before a product launch.
As a result, the new M4 MacBook Air and iPhone SE seem right on track for their expected early 2025 launches.
Earlier this year, Apple debuted the M3 MacBook Air in early March. That’s the same month the last iPhone SE was introduced too, but in 2022.
We could be looking at March debuts for both new products in 2025.
One other interesting tidbit from Young is that he says the MacBook Air ‘may’ come in 13.3 and 15.3-inch sizes. I wouldn’t put much stock in that though, especially considering the ‘may’ qualifier.
Currently the Air displays are 13.6 and 15.3 inches, and it’s unlikely Apple would shrink the size of just the smaller model—not when a hardware redesign isn’t in the cards.
