GURNEE, IL – A record-breaking roller coaster has just been revealed a short road trip away. This coaster will have the world’s steepest drop.

“Wrath of Rakshasa” will debut in 2025 at Six Flags Great America near Chicago.

Not only will it feature a 96-degree first drop, but it will have the most inversions of any dive coaster in the world.

The custom-designed dive coaster, created by Bolliger and Mabillard, will be 180 feet tall and will feature a cliffhanger hold, suspending riders straight down just before they descend 171-feet at a 96-degree angle.

“Six Flags Great America continues to push the limits of innovation and thrills, as we introduce the world’s steepest drop with the most inversions on a dive coaster,” said Park President John Krajnak. “Wrath of Rakshasa joins our already impressive lineup of record-breaking roller coasters and attractions at the park, demonstrating our commitment to delivering cutting-edge experiences for our guests.”

Wrath of Rakshasa will have three trains with three rows of passengers seated seven across. The track will be 3,239 feet. The ride will reach speeds of nearly 67 miles per hour and have five inversions.

This is the second record-breaking roller coaster announced a short distance away from Michigan for 2025.

Canada’s Wonderland will open “AlpenFury” next year. The ride will be Canada’s longest, tallest and fastest launch coaster and will have the most inversions of any launch coaster in North America with nine.
