Does Gen-Z care about sports? The future of being a Browns fan through a 19-year-old’s point of view

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Studies show Gen Z may not care as much about sports as other generations. We found a fan that very much disagrees. He’s loyal to the Cleveland Browns and doesn’t plan on stopping any time soon. He wants to pass down his passion to future generations.

At 19 years old Jayden Vandeborne considers himself a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan. Some might say he should be a Steelers fan. But his dad and grandpa were never going to let that happen.

He grew up in Bloomingdale, Ohio an hour outside of Pittsburgh. Browns memorabilia line the walls of his childhood home.

When being a Browns fan is in your blood it doesn’t matter where you live even if it’s in Steelers territory.

”Probably had 80 percent Steelers Fans at my school,” said Vandeborne.

Since Jayden was 11 years old his family has had Browns season tickets.

”I’ve converted a couple of friends from neutral fans to Steeler fans to browns fans but everybody knows me as the Browns guy,” said Vandeborne.

Sadly, last October Jayden’s grandpa lost his battle to cancer. He can’t talk about his love for the Browns with his grandpa anymore but what he can do is keep on showing up season after season carrying on his family’s legacy and passing down the tradition of rooting for the Cleveland Browns to his kids someday.

”We’re so dedicated to Cleveland and anti-Pittsburgh that even if it’s a concert we will find a way to go to the one in Cleveland and not Pittsburg,” said Vandeborne.
