Donations from around the world pour into Peacham for flood repairs

PEACHAM, Vt. (WCAX) – Communities across the region came closer together in the wake of recent flooding. For one Vermont town, their community extends well outside the country.

Not only did volunteers organize in Peacham to help dig out waterlogged homes, they also helped to raise raise a lot of cash for flood victims. Peacham farmer and Youtuber, Morgan Gold, used his online presence to host a 24-hour livestream which documented the damage in Peacham and gave viewers the opportunity to donate. That effort netted well over 100-thousand dollars and most people who contributed were from way beyond the town’s borders.

“Really worldwide. So many of the folks who donated were from outside the country, I think we hit like 35 different countries, and it was about 5-thousand individual donors who contributed over the course of the livestream,” said Morgan Gold of Peacham.

Most of the money went directly to the Peacham emergency response fund. A committee is reviewing applications for people in need of assistance and prioritizing how the cash gets doled out.
